After more than 16 years of gardening experience and almost 45 years of growing different plants, I’ve accumulated so much useful knowledge that I decided that it was time to share it with the World. Gardening is such a joy, and my goal is to encourage more people to try it themselves and make the gardening process as easy and enjoyable as possible.
I grow all my plants organically in hardiness zone 4a on a North-facing slope at around 800 ft of elevation. Needless to say, these growing conditions come with some challenges, and as a result, I’ve developed different solutions for helping plants overcome cold temperatures and extend the growing season.
My gardening space consists of two vegetable gardens, an orchard and an extensive flower garden with many roses and perennials.
My goal is to garden in harmony with nature, create biodiversity and maintain healthy populations of birds, beneficial insects, and various pollinators. I feed birds in the winter, plant as many flowers as possible (or even let them grow in my lawn) for bees and hummingbirds, and let Ladybugs overwinter in my house.
Each year, I start hundreds of plants in my basement from seeds. I prefer to grow heirloom varieties and collect my seeds. I also propagate many plants by division, cuttings, layering, etc. Recently, I also learned how to graft plants, and I only regret that I haven’t done it much earlier.
But enough about me. If you like gardening or just want to start, please let me know if you have any questions, and I will try to answer them!
Love and blessings,
Natalie
